"For instance, our offices don't have any doors, which makes the space more inviting to customers. Also, the building doesn't have any ceiling tile. That space is left open, with exposed beams and such, which allows us more space for signage."

But Glenn points out that the reason for such architecture far outweighs any consideration of cost. The design, he says, serves as a symbol of McIlroy's dedication to employee empowerment and the resulting high level of customer service.

"The positive customer response we receive moves from the building to the personal service aspects of our bank, and as a result our business continues to grow," states Glenn. "Our customers are voting with their patronage, and that's the best vote there is."

According to Glenn, one high-end customer was so over whelmed by the bank's friendly-yet-professional atmosphere that he returned to the bank with an interesting request: Could McIlroy work with him to promote its services and products to his friends and coworkers? "

Of course we said we would," laughs Glenn. "That's called hitting a home run."
